Bamboo flooring

- Strand woven bamboo -

One of the most environmentally friendly ‘timber’ products available, bamboo flooring is not only attractive, but ideal for retail, hotel, restaurant and residential projects. A unique manufacturing process producing highly compressed bamboo flooring.

Although many characteristics of bamboo are similar to the hardwoods, bamboo is not a wood. It is a variety of grass which is dense and structurally much stronger than most hardwoods. It also grows much faster than timber ad can be harvested every 5-7 years, making it a product of choice when considering the environment.

Woven Strand Bamboo flooring consists of bamboo fibres mixed with resins and polymers to make it extremely hard. It is available in coffee or natural colours as well as a new range of stained colours, and is usually pre-finished with an industrial matt or ceramic satin lacquer.

- Laminated bamboo -

Traditional laminated bamboo flooring consists of many pieces of the wall of the bamboo plant being laminated together to form a board. Typically this board is produced in a tongue-and-groove format for flooring or wall paneling purposes. It is suitable for residential, retail, hospitality and restaurant applications.

Laminated bamboo flooring is as hard as many hardwood timbers and can be used in exactly the same way. It is an environmentally friendly product and will be used more and more extensively as the planet runs out of sustainable sources of timber.

Laminated bamboo flooring is available in two styles - natural horizontal and contemporary vertical lamination. It is also available in coffee or natural colours, pre-finished in an industrial matt or ceramic satin finish.

There are more than 1,000 varieties of bamboo in the world, but we use only Mao Bamboo because its diameter, color, structure, density and strength is most suitable for the production of bamboo flooring and furniture paneling. This bamboo variety can grow about 2-3 feet the first 24 hours when spouting from ground in spring. In 6 months, a stalk's height and diameter can become mature. The bamboo stalk is hollow inside and the outer wall is circular. We only use the outer wall as construction material. The outer wall consists of pulp and membranes. The thin outside green layer is high-density silicon that yields hardness equivalent to hardwoods and a smooth surface of wax like material. The thicker inside yellow layer is loose and fragile.
